PARTNER OF "OCTOPUS" JSCORGANIZED A SEMINAR IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE ALL-RUSSIAN CONFERENCE

11.09.2017
Fr om May 15 to 19, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) together with the Kazan Federal University hosted the Second Research and Practical Conference "Horizontal Wells 2017. Problems and Prospects". One of the days of the conference was fully devoted to the current and actively developing direction "Microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracture treatment (HFT)." The work of the session began with the hearing of reports from the participants of the conference on this subject, after which the same seminar was held, organized by the strategic partner of “Octopus” JSC–“Gradient Technologies” LLC (Kazan). "Within the framework of the seminar "MicroseismicHFTmonitoring ", the fundamentals of ground and well monitoring of hydraulic fracturing, their limitations, emerging problems and opportunities, as well as world trends in the development of this direction were touched upon. The issues discussed were illustrated by examples from real practice of microseismic monitoring," said Yevgeny Biryaltsev, Deputy General Director of “Octopus”JSC, General Director of “Gradient Technology” LLC. Evgeny Vasilievich noted that the organizers of the seminar focused their attention on one of the most relevant and controversial topics of modern ground geophysics - ground-based microseismic HFT monitoring. The questions on modern approaches to the location of the focus of the microseismic event, the determination of its parameters and their relation to the parameters of the crack, the possibilities to refine the geomechanical characteristics of the environment (the main stress axis, the maximum and minimum stresses on the environment, etc.), the comparison of techniques and some features of their applicability were explored in detail. The topic of well HFTmonitoring was not left aside - the current state of technology development, possible observation networks, main problems, ambiguities in interpretation and their causes were coveredbased on the world experience, the issue of reporting standardswas raised as well. The natural conclusion of the seminar "Microseismic HFT monitoring " was a roundtable conference, because only in a dispute and dialogue can the truth be born. "Holding the roundtable conference helped to involve in the discussion of pressing issues on topics not only the representatives of the scientific community and service companies carrying out microseismic HFT monitoring, but also representatives of oil and gas companies, the main customers of this type of work," stressed Yevgeny Biryaltsev. The main topis of the round table conference were: reliability and accuracy of the results of HFT monitoring of all types, how the customer should assess the quality of field and office work, creation of procedures and numerical models to verify the operational capability of location techniques, need to introduce uniform standards for reporting all standards for this interdepartmental working group. "By the decision of the round table conference, the seminar "Microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracture treatment (HFT)"will be made a periodicalevent, and the scientific and practical conference"Horizontal wells. Problems and prospects” was chosen as the main platform wh ere it will be held, "- summed up Yevgeny Biryaltsev.
